Remember Granny?

This is Granny, poor, poor, Granny.

Progress.

More progress.

Granny again , bless her heart.

Not Granny.

Today's question, what to do with this?
Clean it?  Paint it?  Cover it?  Frankly, I'm stumped.

I guess I could ask the guy who owns the ugly fireplace what his preference is, but then if I did that, he might think his opinion mattered, or something.  Not a good precedent to set.

ps- Could the pictures be any crappier?  I should have stolen a better camera. Next time.

I have been following you (and have you on my blog roll) forever - and I never comment because, well, because you really leave nothing to be said.

However, I'm writing today to ask your mailing address. I laughed so unexpectedly at the above line that I spilled my coffee all over my new mouse pad, and I'd like to send you the bill.

Paint it with a wash rather than a solid coat of paint. A white with a little grey in it sponged on. That's what I would do.

T- I will (mebee) gladly provide the requested info. when I get your .02 on the issue at hand. (Demo is not an option). You=Artistic genius. Me=Art Instruction School “Draw Me” talent test reject.
And, no more silent treatment, kay?

HOBAC- I think that your idea may be the best option. I did find large sheets of banana bark paper on Paper Mojo in a grey(ish) color that I thought about trying, but I am afraid when I get it wet to apply it, it will turn to pulp.

Snot like blobs of pulp on the fireplace may not be good for my already compromised credibility. Know what I mean?

Doesn't what you do with it totally depend on your other plans for the room? The most popular choice these days is to paint everything white. All the walls all the trim all the brick. I hate that. And greyish white-yuck. Depressing. If it were mine to do I might cover it in large tiles of glossy black. Too expensive-paint it glossy black. Put Funky bright coloured accessories on the mantle. Paint the walls greyish white is you must and then continue the black and bright colour theme.

Have you thought of extending the respective colours to both the coving and the baseboard? Just a though.

Wow, that must be me; I am a fancy blog administrator laadeey! Unfortunately, it was just spam, nothing juicy.

The committee (me) has reached a decision on the fireplace. Thanks for your help y’all. In return, I promise to try to shut the hell up about it now.
